Higher Education Research Studies

UKIERI has a key objective of facilitating cooperation between the UK and India. During the course of its implementation, it was realised that research in the area of higher education on tpoics like feasibilty of collaboration between the two countries, technical & philosophical barriers for collaboration, government policies towards foreign providers in India, details of potential partners for developing cooperation, etc will help in successful delivery of projects ..

With the above view in mind, the following two research studies were commissioned with the objective to enhance understanding of the higher education systems of both the countries:

1. Foreign education providers in India
2. UK & India Higher Education system

Foreign Education Providers in India

  The higher-education in India is witnessing significant changes owing to globalisation and market-forces. Collaboration with Foreign Education Providers is, in part, an outcome of these interacting forces.The main focus of this research study is to develop comprehensive database and knowledge of the current activities of Foreign Education Providers in India , their processes of operation and delivery systems currently employed. This research is undertaken to throw some light on two dimensions – institutions and students.

The research covers:

  • Collaboration with Foreign Education Providers: A Quantitative Analysis
  • Mechanisms of Collaboration and d elivery
  • Educational services by foreign institutions in partnership with the Indian institutions.
  • Analysis of collaborating Indian institutions
  • Database of foreign collaborating universities and institutions

UK & India Higher Education system

  The overall aim of this study is to facilitate cooperation between the United Kingdom and India by providing relevant details about the respective higher education systems and the inter-transferability between teaching programmes in each country.

The study also comments on the feasibility of collaboration between the two systems by assessing both the technical and philosophical underpinnings of the programmes and by identifying potential barriers. The study draws on official documentation and statistics from each country and concludes by developing recommendations including further areas for study.
