| Study India Programme
Study India Programme The Study India Programme (SIP), funded by UKIERI is designed to encourage undergraduate students at UK HE and FE institutions to consider India as a place for further study, work or travel. It aims to increase the UK to India mobility of students. The programme was formally launched in Delhi and Mumbai in 2009. Under this programme, a total of 400 British students from the UK will visit India over two years. The first batch of 200 students visited India in September 2009 and spent three weeks in Delhi and Mumbai respectively, to gain experience of Indian culture, way of life, people, arts, politics, economy and language. The students also worked alongside their Indian counterparts, participating in workshops, visiting a range of local employers and gaining a better understanding of the richness & diversity of a country like India. The programme is delivered jointly by the University of Birmingham and King's College London in partnership with University of Delhi and H R College, University of Mumbai. The second set of 200 undergraduate students from various HE & FE institutions in the UK will visit India from 14 August to 4 September 2010. This second phase of the programme began with a pre departure briefing in Birmingham and London. A number of institutional visits, guided tours to historical monuments, visits to corporate house, etc are being planned for these young people when they arrive in India in August.
