DST Thematic Partnerships
The sub-strand will strengthen engagement and encourage future potential collaborations between the Indian and UK higher education institutions by facilitating collaborations between faculties and researchers along with promoting and assisting registered PhD students and post-docs in India and the UK to undertake short-term visits to work on research projects.
In 2012, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and British Council signed a bilateral agreement to support Institutional partnerships that aim to provide opportunities for the UK and Indian universities and research institutions/organizations to collaborate on thematic partnerships under the Innovation Partnerships strand on mutually agreed areas relating to science and innovation.
The partnerships would involve staff and researcher exchanges between the UK and India, including for research students. The strand activity is open to all universities and research centres and teams in the UK and India, research institutes and companies or foundations.
The partnerships will be for subjects agreed jointly by Department of Science and Technology and UKIERI in priority areas.
“The UKIERI - DST partnership endeavours to support education and research links that enables enhanced research output leading to increased knowledge transfers. The UKIERI-DST research partnership aims to strengthen capacity building through collaboration in focused sectors of key global challenges including energy, climate change and health.”
